Illinois OCLC Users Group (IOUG) will hold an exciting two-day Annual IOUG Meeting, to be held in the State Library Atrium, Beginning at 1:00 PM. Wednesday, May 17th, and ending at 12 noon, Thursday, May 18th. This meeting promises to offer lively, provocative "big picture" discussions regarding current trends and the future of library service. SPEAKERS: *Joe Janes, Associate Dean for the Information School of the University of Washington, will report on digital technology, virtual reference service and the evolution of libraries. *Debra Aggertt, ISL Virtual Reference Coordinator and Mark Beatty, WiLS (Wisconsin Library Services) will report on "Ask?Away," the new OCLC QuestionPoint Service for Illinois and Wisconsin libraries *Cathy DeRosa, OCLC Vice President for Marketing and Library Services, will discuss the findings of the latest OCLC Market Research Study entitled, "Perceptions of Libraries and Information Resources." *Maggie Farrell, Dean of Libraries at the University of Wyoming and OCLC Members Council President, will share her experiences on Members Council, including insights regarding strategies for strengthening collaborative partnerships. *Additionally, Illinois OCLC Member Council Delegates Jan Ison, Lynn Wiley, Alice Calabrese, and Jay Starratt, will provide the "Illinois" experience of serving as Members Council delegates. *Other Speakers will include, Susan Singleton, Executive Director of CARLI; Anne Craig, Director, Illinois State Library, Brad Baker, Dean of Libraries, Northeastern Illinois University and OCLC Board of Trustees member, Lori Murphy, Librarian, DePaul University and Chair, IOUG Board, and Suzanne Schriar, Director, ILLINET/OCLC Services. As a special treat, registrants will receive a complimentary pass to the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum; plus, tours of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library will be arranged. There will be a reception on Wednesday evening in the ISL atrium, and 2 separate drawings to give away a palm pilot and an MP3 player.
